Waiting on...THE OATHBREAKER'S SHADOW by Amy

A fantasy where the main character is a bad-assed fighter who becomes an oathbreaker and has to run or be killed? Yes, please. Plus, this cover has me intrigued. I want to know more about the fierce boy with the sword on the cover. And who's the creepy, demon-eyed figure behind him? Oh, yes. This is right up my alley.

THE OATHBREAKER'S SHADOW (The Knots Sequence #1) by Amy McCulloch
YA Fantasy
416 pages, hardcover
EXPECTED PUBLICATION: JUNE 6, 2013
Publisher: Random House Children's Books

Fifteen-year-old Raim lives in a world where you tie a knot for every promise that you make. Break that promise and you are scarred for life, and cast out into the desert.

Raim has worn a simple knot around his wrist for as long as he can remember. No one knows where it came from, and which promise of his it symbolises, but he barely thinks about it at all—not since becoming the most promising young fighter ever to train for the elite Yun guard. But on the most important day of his life, when he binds his life to his best friend (and future king) Khareh, the string bursts into flames and sears a dark mark into his skin.

Scarred now as an oath-breaker, Raim has two options: run, or be killed.

Waiting on is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

  2. Inititally (by the cover) I thought this was going to be an adult UF. But YA fantasy? YES PLEASE! I hadn't heard of this one yet (somehow!) and it's definitely going on my wishlist!

  3. Oh, my goodness, I love the sound of this. Like Candace, I figured it would be adult based on the cover alone but I love that it's not and it sounds so fascinating! Adding it to my tbr right this second. I hate that it's RH and I can't get an arc, they're so mean to non US reviewers!
