Let me tell you a little story. I read and fully enjoyed THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER. (No, that's not the story.) I then took Mara to school with me, where it sat quite happily on the bookshelf in my classroom along with many other wonderful books for a short amount of time. Then Varsha picked Mara up and took her home.
And came back to school later that week, begging for THE EVOLUTION OF MARA DYER (which doesn't release until Oct. 23). Luckily for Varsha, I'd won a Simon and Schuster Facebook contest (yahoo!) and just happened to have an ARC of Mara's next tale sitting on my to-be-read bookshelf. Garnering promises not to slobber all over my pretty and completely unread ARC, I passed EVOLUTION to Varsha.
Who came back the next day (you know how big that book is? Holy cow, Varsha!) and proclaimed it even better than the first book. She's very sad she has to wait until sometime in 2013 for THE RETRIBUTION OF MARA DYER.
Even though I'm only half way through Mara's EVOLUTION, I have to agree with her. Which makes me even more excited to be a part of this tour!
A little shivery quote to whet your appetite for Mara (don't forget to enter to win a copy of EVOLUTION and some swagalicious swag at the end of this blog):
Michelle's Interview Part III:
If Noah and Mara’s relationship was the sole focus of a book, what might the
tagline for it be?
Who would you kill for?
After the Mara Dyer trilogy is completed, what genre do you think you’ll tackle
I think it's safe to say I'll be sticking with YA, and I have many, many ideas.
All I have to say to that is YAY!
Mara Dyer once believed she could run from her past.
She used to think her problems were all in her head.
She couldn’t imagine that after everything she’s been through, the boy she loves would still be keeping secrets.
In this gripping sequel to The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, the truth evolves and choices prove deadly. What will become of Mara Dyer next?
At the age of sixteen, Michelle Hodkin lost the rights to her soul in a poker game with pirates just south of Natchez. Shortly thereafter, she joined an acting troupe and traveled the world performing feats of wonder and mischief. She has been seen on stages nationwide and earned rave reviews for her one woman performance of Titus Andronicus before writing The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, her first novel which is available now. The sequel, The Evolution of Mara Dyer, hits shelves October 23, 2012, and the third book in the trilogy, The Retribution of Mara Dyer, hits shelves Fall 2013. Michelle currently lives with her three pets and may or may not be a reliable narrator of her own life.
