This week's question is...Do you judge a book by its cover?
Um...yes. Yes, I do. But that's just what gets me to pick the book up. If the blurb (or first page, if there's no blurb.) isn't intriguing or doesn't match the cover, I'm done. Like I tell my students, I love pretty things. The prettier it is, the more likely I am to give it a better grade. But content counts more. If it's pretty wrapped around an empty shell, FAIL! Prettiness just puts me in a better mood.
I love pretty things too.... or my husband might say shiny things. But yes, many times the cover will get me to pick a book up - either because its gorgeous and I want to learn more, or its awful and I have to take a peek at the train wreck.

Welcome back to the hop! I'm the same way, the cover will draw me in but if I'm not interested in the blurb, then that's that. Likewise, if I hear really good things about a book but I'm not wowed by the cover, I will usually still check it out.

I'm an old follower hopping through. I agree with you. There are times I've seen an amazing cover but then I'm less than thrilled by what the novel is about and end up putting it back. Have an awesome weekend!

ReplyDeleteI'll admit that I have cover lust, but it's not the deciding factor for me. I'm OCD though, so when I colour coordinate my books, I want them to look pretty!
Hi :) Yep, if the cover's pretty it has more chances of me picking it up. If it's matched with a killer blurb, it gets taken to the cashier. Hope you enjoy your weekend and I'm a new follower!!

Yup, me too. The covers draws me to the book but whether I buy or read it, depends on a bit more.
